Welcome!
If you're looking for a student ministry that is relevant to your life and committed to making a huge difference in both the community and the world then you've come to the right place. Sure we have lots of fun and share lots of laughs together but ultimately we are committed to following in the footsteps of Jesus.
Our model: The life of Jesus (Mark 1:17)
We believe that Jesus intended His life to serve as a model for us to follow. And so Jesus' values, priorities, practices and methods must be reflected in all that we do as a ministry. Jesus befriended sinners and associated with social outcasts and so we must be willing to do the same. He was about the business of introducing people to a new way of life and a better way of living. In short, Jesus was all about offering people a second chance and a fresh start at life.
Our desire: To walk as Jesus walked ( 1 John 2:6)
The students of Oakwood Church are committed to carrying on the mission that Jesus began. We desire people to experience forgiveness of sin and to live life as God intended and designed. We truly want to make an eternal difference in our community and world by extending love to the unloved and bringing the good news about Jesus' death and resurrection to people in need of forgiveness and a second chance. We desire to see the next generation take personal ownership of Jesus' message and purpose to that so that they can become world-changers for Christ.
Our purpose:
At Oakwood Church our mission is to introduce students to Jesus and show them how to follow Him.
Our values:
The life of Christ: We want to teach students not only WHY Jesus died but also HOW he lived
Community impact: Passionately engaging our community with authentic expressions of God's love and grace is essential to following Jeuss.
Interactive learning: Active learning encourages an active faith while passive learning encourages a passive faith.
Relevant: Information is only as valuable as the degree to which it can be used.
Relational: Students grow best in the context of a community.
Fun: We want our students to be excited about pursuing Jesus!
Safe: Students can't grow in a physically or emotionally threatening environment.

…whose LEAVES provide shade from the hatred, jealousy, injustice and prid found in our fallen world.
